- About
the Course
- This course is aimed
at University staff and students who want to use SPSS to complement or
enhance their statistical analyses, but who do not have the time to
study
the associated techniques from scratch. The course is intended for
beginner
SPSS users.
- The main aim is to teach participants basic
statistics, and how SPSS can help in analysing data efficiently. Course
participants will learn how to input data into SPSS, how to create
variables, and how to get simple statistics such as mean, variance etc.
The only essential prerequisite is familiarity with MS Windows and the
basic concepts of MS Excel.
- The tutor for the course will be Dr. Liberato
Camilleri.

a hands-on course, where a technique learnt will be applied to a case
study.
Further exercises will be available for the user who wants further
practice.

- The above courses are organised subject to a
minimum number of 10 participants.
- Waiting List Request
You can ask to be placed on the course
waiting list if the above courses are fully booked, or are at
a time which is inconvenient for you.
You will be notified by e-mail when the next course is scheduled.
- Course
Registration
- The course registration fee is
€37.27 (Lm16)*. Please note that this fee has been kept to an
absolute minimum and
is necessary to cover tutoring costs. The fee does not include
courseware available for download here.
- University students - are
requested to come personally at IT Services
Reception Desk to register for the course. Payment can be
made by SMGB (Stipends) card or cheque addressed to the 'IT
Services'.
- Academic staff - can authorise
payment through their personal academic work resources funds
allocation. Payment can also be made by cheque addressed to the
'IT Services'.
- Administrative & Technical Staff
- are requested to apply for the course through the Further Training
& Work Resources Fund Non-Academic Committee. Payment can also
be made by cheque addressed to the 'IT Services'.

Registrations are accepted on a first-come
first-served basis. The IT Services reserves the right not to proceed with a
course in which case a full refund will be issued.
Only members of staff & registered
university students can register for SPSS courses.
