The charges involved in organising a videoconference session are as follows:

**Other charges may apply to cover overtime costs of support staff at the University Gozo Centre, the New Gateway Building or other venues.

Note that:

  • The videoconferencing facilities are available for use by university staff and departments for university related work.
  • The set-up fee covers the coordination, testing and technical set-up of the connection between the University of Malta and the remote site.
  • Internal videoconferences between University of Malta sites do not incur the set-up fee. This fee will therefore not apply for sessions between the main campus and the University Gozo Centre.
  • Reduced fees may apply for study-units held through videoconferencing. Members of staff are requested to send an e-mail with more details on their requirements.
  • The minimum session fee is set to 30mins i.e. minimum session fee for a conference held during office hours is €5.80 (Lm2.49)*. The session fees are also rounded to the next half hour e.g. the session fee for a conference held during office hours and that lasts 1hr 45mins will be €17.45 (Lm7.49).
  • The above fees apply to IP and ISDN conferences. However, ISDN links originating from the University of Malta incur additional ISDN connection charges. Incoming ISDN calls do not incur such additional connection charges. More details about ISDN charges are indicated here.
  • The office hours with reference to the above table are as follows:

      Oct 1st - Jun 14th  
      Monday to Friday   0830-1630
      Jun 15th - Sep 30th  
      Monday to Friday   0830-1230

  • Videoconference sessions can be recorded on a VHS tape at a cost of €3.45 (Lm1.48) per tape which will be provided to the conference organiser.
  • The videoconferencing facilities must be booked at least 10 working days before the date of the videoconference session.
  • Payment for the videoconferencing session is to be made by a purchase order (PO). The PO is to be approved by the Finance Office and received by the IT Services before the date of the videoconference session.

Members of staff who will be organising an ISDN conference are requested to contact IT Services before issuing their PO. Such POs will also cover the ISDN connection costs that vary according to destination, duration & quality of link.
