[ VIDEOCONFERENCING HOMEPAGE ]
ISDN conferencing involves one site dialling the other site using ISDN lines. The site
that initiates the ISDN call will incur the connection charges that vary according to the duration,
destination and quality of the link. The charges are also time-dependent i.e. the
cost is more expensive during peak hours. ISDN links are charged according to the number of 64kbps digital channels used during the conference.
Each 64kbps generates exactly the same pulses as a conventional telephone line. The quality of the audio-visual
link improves as the number of digital channels increases. An ISDN link can be 128kbps (ISDN2), 256kbps (ISDN4) and 384kbps (ISDN6). An ISDN2 link (64×2=128kbps) will
cost twice as much as the 64kbps link. An ISDN4 link (64×4=256kbps) will cost 4 times as much as the 64kbps
link etc.
A typical example would be a 1-hour ISDN call to the UK held during office (peak) hours. This would cost approximately €24.45 (Lm10.50*)
*Prices shown in Lm are for information purposes
only and have been converted using the central parity rate.
Note that:
- The ISDN connection charges are based on the
Go Business Tariffs.
- The ISDN connection charges (indicated above)
are over and above the IT Services charges indicated here.
| Members of staff are strongly
encouraged to make use of IP conferencing rather than ISDN conferencing to save on the
additional ISDN connection charges. |
